Stubble burning, a common agricultural practice in wheat and rice growing parts of India, has a substantial impact on greenhouse gas emissions, and air quality deterioration. Around 25�30 of the air quality problems faced in Delhi are related to stubble burning which is a major contributor to air pollution in northern India with AQI crossing over 350 in winters. This research suggests a comprehensive approach to tackle the negative effects of stubble burning that combines technological, legislative, and corporate initiatives. Based on empirical evidence confirming their efficiency in improving air quality, a biogas system is considered a feasible alternative to eliminate particulate matter and hazardous pollutants by eliminating stubble burning. Furthermore, the introduction of a stubble exchange program simplifies the collection and use of stubble by businesses. A business model is examined in which stubble is reused into paper, compost, and other products, supported by market demand data and an economic feasibility analysis. By using this multifaceted method, this will support for a long-term shift away from stubble burning, which will promote environmental conservation, economic growth, and societal well-being in agricultural communities. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
