Biopolymers play a crucial role in the growth, survival, and reproduction of any organism. However, these biopolymers especially protein and peptides being amphoteric in their nature have extended functions. The current chapters attempt to explore the possibilities of hydrogels of proteins and peptides which could be encapsulated with bioactive compounds for tissue engineering applications. The chapter will provide better insights into the mechanistic approach of biopolymeric encapsulated hydrogels in biomedical applications with specific examples of keratin, albumin, and gelatin for artificial tissue regeneration. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd.
