Abstract

Flow oscillations in the near-wake of a 2D circular cylinder at Mach 6 are experimentally investigated. Time-resolved schlieren and wall-pressure measurements are analyzed to infer a coherent spatial structure and frequency (Strouhal number) for the oscillations. The findings presented here lend support to a universal scaling of Strouhal number proposed in recent literature for high-speed cylinder wakes. © 2022 12th International Symposium on Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena, TSFP 2022.
