Abstract

This paper presents a new guidance law for an interceptor having constraints on lead angle and lateral acceleration. This guidance law is obtained by online solving a state (lead angle) and input (lateral acceleration) constrained optimal control problem which is formulated in Spectral Model Predictive Static Programming (SMPSP) framework. In this paper, a set of inequality constraints are derived using MPSP philosophy to represent the constraints on states and control. This approach helps to formulate a nonlinear programming problem where these inequality constraints are introduced with a quadratic cost and inequality constraints (used in MPSP). Implementation of control with spectral representation results in huge reduction of the dimension of optimization problem that makes the algorithm possible to implement in real time. Simulation study shows that effectiveness of the new formulation.
