Abstract

Ferroelectric nanoceramic materials have a huge potential in integrated electronics as passive components, nonvolatile ferroelectric memories, and optoelectronic devices. They are mainly utilized in the form of thin films in the recent past more than as powders. Special attention is given to the piezoelectric properties of ferroelectric nanoceramic powders as well as thin films. In this chapter, the basics of nanocrystalline ferroelectrics and their synthesis routes will be discussed, which will be followed by a special emphasis on the sol-gel processing of prominent ferroelectric nanoceramics and their sintering methods. The important applications currently pursued by means of these advanced materials are compiled for further research developments. © 2018 Pan Stanford Publishing Pte. Ltd.
