Abstract
Boron-Nitride interphase and Silicon Carbide matrix have been deposited on graphite blocks by Chemical VaporInfiltration (CVI). Samples have been obtained after interphase deposition and matrix deposition and their mechanical properties have been obtained from nanoindentation. The Young's modulus and hardness of the interphase and matrix were determined. Additionally, P-h curve for the matrix exhibits 'pop-in' behaviorindicative of brittle failure.
