Abstract

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been established as a prevalent neurological disorder that affects multiple individuals. The National Mental Health Survey of India, 2015�2016 reported that the prevalence of ADHD in adults aged 18�44 years is 4.4. This study aims to propose and test a new intervention specifically targeting stimulant therapy: visual sequential pattern stimulation (VSPS) for alleviating ADHD symptoms in young adults. VSPS is a method that employs sequential visuals which is customisable by every user and is backed by thorough research and expert opinion of how visuals affect the cognition of individuals. This novel method has been theoretically proven to be effective in reducing inattention in individuals with ADHD or ADHD-like symptoms. It potentially offers an accessible, non-invasive, affordable mobile intervention that could be used in educational or work environments, home environments, etc. This study has contributed to inculcating visual arts and designing more effective treatments for ADHD symptoms and the explorative non-pharmacological techniques possible for a more personalised experience in this era of medicine. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
