Abstract

This study transcends linguistic boundaries to celebrate the rich history of Indian scripts through gamification, awareness building, and creative interpretations. The aim is to bridge the gap between cultural divides, foster appreciation, and create a sense of unity amidst the different scripts used in India. As a designer, the aspiration to promote and elevate the scripts becomes a major driving force behind this paper. Since Tamil script and Devanagari script are proven to be descendants of Brahmi script, there are a lot of differences in their writings, but the pronunciation of the letters is the same. This paper attempts to find those small similarities that make a huge difference in each letter of each script. The aim is to create a unique canvas, allowing the two scripts to merge seamlessly and stand out at the same time. The journey involves meticulous creativity and extensive research, delving into Tamil and Devanagari script's cultural, historical, and typographic nuances. The project acknowledges the rich history of Indian scripts and takes inspiration from them, acknowledging their status as timeless cultural artefacts. Tamil and Devanagari (Hindi Language) scripts serve as a monument to continue the influence and encourage readers to recognise the common history that is sometimes lost in the mosaic of linguistic diversity. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
