Abstract

Carbon fibers were reinforced in the poly dimethyl siloxane (PDMS) matrix, and composites of 2.5 wt %, 3 wt %, and 10 wt % concentration were effectively synthesized. The composites' complex relative permittivity values were measured, and microwave absorption properties were calculated for the synthesized PDMS composites. Based on the measured data, a data-driven approach was used to optimize the filler loading for efficient microwave absorption. It was observed that the composite's minimum reflection loss (RLmin) is about -51 dB for 0.3 wt % concentration at 2.9 mm thickness with an effective absorption bandwidth of 4.3 GHz in the Ku-band (12.4-18 GHz).
