Abstract

The lanthanum substituted superconducting oxide system $Yba_{2 - x}La_xCu_3O_{7 - \delta}$ is prepared by ceramic method. The compacted and sintered pellets containing different percentages of $La (x = 0.0\rightarrow0.5)$ are indented by a 120° diamond cone. The effect of La substitution on superconducting and bulk mechanical properties as well as the deformation behavior of the material are investigated.
