Abstract

We compare the low-cycle fatigue behavior of a CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy at room-temperature (RT) and 550 °C. The cyclic response at 550 °C manifests no cyclic softening, presence of serrated flow and reduced fatigue life compared to that at RT. Microstructural investigations show that distinctly from the dominating wavy slip at RT, dislocations planar slip complements wavy slip at 550 °C. The unexpected planar slip at 550 °C is ascribed to the increase of stacking fault width, likely due to Suzuki segregation. Furthermore, dislocation slip mode evolution with both strain amplitude and cycle number at 550 °C is revealed. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd
