Abstract
Max Perutz and John Kendrew determined the structures of haemoglobin and myoglobin in 1962 and 1960 respectively. Their achievement was the result of more than two decades of sustained efforts. Their success was recognized by the award of the 1962 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and celebrated as the beginning of structural studies on proteins by X-ray diffraction techniques. © 2020, Current Science.
