Abstract

The sugar ring in 1-O-(2-iodophenyl)-fl-D-galacto-pyranose (C12H15IO6) has the expected 4C I chair conformation. The molecules form hydrogen-bonded layers which stack together so that the crystal structure contains alternate polar and non-polar slices along the c axis.
