Abstract

Extraction of volume corresponding to a recognised form feature is an important step in feature extraction. Face extension and edge extension techniques that have been used earlier have limited scope. Only, features with convex volumes and those, that do not create new faces on updating the part solid have been addressed by the above techniques. In this paper a general algorithm based on the concept of 3D clipping is presented. This algorithm has been implemented and tested as part of a domain independent form feature recognition system
