Abstract

Safe locomotion of a UAV sharing airspace with others is a very challenging problem. This roblem can be solved by serving each UAV sharing airspace with a geofenced lane encapsulated in a mobility corridor. This paper presents a hybrid control strategy for the safe locomotion of UAVs in such corridors. One component of the strategy finds its application in keeping the UAV within the lane geofence, and the other controls the UAV toward its destination. Applications of the proposed controller have been attempted with the experiments done in two stages: a motion capture scenario with indoor localization without wind and field experiments with wind effects. The experimental results included in this paper validate its application in a real-world scenario © 2023, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.
