This paper focuses on various activities that have been undertaken at the pulsed power laboratory, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, to develop tooling systems for the Electromagnetic manufacturing of metallic sheets and tubular workpieces. The paper discusses an analytical model developed by the authors to evaluate the performance of the tooling systems developed numerically. The article presents the design of a novel tooling coil for the agile manufacturing of tubular workpieces and an optimized uniform pressure electromagnetic tooling coil used for manufacturing metallic sheets. A fast analytical model has been described to solve electromagnetic fields using the current filament method. The paper also highlights essential process parameters that have been studied during the performance evaluation of the tooling systems designed. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
