Abstract

The barium hexaferrites have been prepared by ball milling of a $BaO_2$ and $Fe_2O_3$ mixture followed by thermal heat treatments. The structure and magnetic properties were investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer techniques. The effect of grain refiner was also studied and it was found that the hard magnetic properties were improved significantly. The sintered product of barium hexaferrite powders prepared from ball milling has higher coercive force than that of other barium hexaferrite made from oxide/carbonate.
