Abstract

This paper introduces a new guidance design methodology using the bifurcation theory of dynamical systems. A three-parameter imperfect transcritical bifurcation in line-of-sight angle dynamics is proposed where the parameters are designed such that the line-of-sight angle settles to the desired equilibrium point which can be related to the impact angle at interception. The analysis is carried out and possible impact angles against stationary targets are expressed as a function of design parameters. Overall, the guidance law has a simple structure with deterministic trajectory shaping behavior. © 2022, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc. All rights reserved.
