Abstract

3D full-wave Method of Moments (MoM) is a well established method to solve Maxwell's equations numerically to find electrical performance of package-board structures. However, accurate solution of arbitrary-shaped 3D geometry using MoM depends on proper mesh refinement. The discretization of the electrical structure should be fine enough to appropriately capture spatial variation of parameters being solved for. Appropriate mesh refinement indicators and strategies have been presented in the past to alleviate this problem. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to accelerate krylov-subspace based iterative solution of each such successive incremental meshes resulting from adaptive refinement. Speedups between 2.5-3x is observed in the iterative convergence process.
