Abstract
Nanocrystalline $LaMnO_{3}$ has been synthesized by low temperature initiated-self propagating, gas producing solution combustion process. Combustion synthesis is rather cheap in terms of reactants employed, requires only a few minutes without any successive calcination yields nanocrystalline products. The effect of fuel quantity in the redox mixture on crystallite size of the final product has been investigated. XRD data and SEM micrograph show that the crystallite size increases with an increase in fuel quantity. $LaMnO_{3}$ sample exhibits a distinct metal insulator behavior with $(T_{M-I})$ around 223 K. The application of magnetic field shifts the $T_{M-I}$ to higher temperatures.
