Abstract

The paper reports results of an investigation on phase evolution from undercooled Cu-Cu3P eutectic liquid entrained in a copper matrix. The results indicate attainment of large undercooling of the droplets during solidification and a variation in the droplet microstructure as a function of size. It is argued that the achievable undercooling and hence nucleation of the Cu3P phase is related to size of the droplets.
