Abstract

A lanthanum mixed dicarboxylate of the formula $[La_{2}(C_{2}O_{4})_{2}(C_{6}H_{8}O_{4})(H_{2}O)_{2}]$ containing metal oxalate layers connected by adipate and oxalate units has been synthesized hydrothermally. Hexagonal channels occur along the c-axis of this material. It has been possible to isolate another mixed dicarboxylate of the formula $[La_{2}(C_{2}O_{4})(C_{4}H_{4}O_{4})_{2}(H_{2}O)_{4}].4H_{2}O$ containing metal succinate layers connected by oxalate units.
