Abstract

X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and EXAFS analysis was made of the Mo K-edge spectra in a series of $AgI-Ag_2O-MoO_3$ glasses to detect the coordination of Mo in the glass. Mo exists in a tetrahedrally coordinated shell of four O atoms. Limitation of the EXAFS technique in discerning small distance differences in the first shell is discussed.
