Abstract

The complex processes occurring in a stirred vessel are discussed. The mechanism of drop breakage and the distribution of droplets in the medium are examined. The three dimensional problem of drop disintegration in a stirred vessel can be reduced to a single dimensional problem in such a way that gross features of the drop breakage phenomenon are captured. These, thus, provide the framework, which can be used as a starting point for developing more rigorous models.
