Abstract

$NH_4M^{2+}[Co(C_2O_4)_3].xH_2O (M^{2+} = Ba, Sr and Ca)$ were prepd. and characterized and their thermal behavior studied. The compounds. decompose in a complex manner to yield bivalent metal carbonate or oxide and Co oxide as final products. The formation of the final products is affected by the surrounding atmosphere during decomposion $M^{2+}CoO_{3-x}$ was not identified among the final products of decomposion This study demonstrates the importance of the decomposion mode of the precursor in producing the desired end-product.
