Abstract

ESR at modulating frequencies of 330 and 67 Hz was used to the variation of the zero-field splitting parameter D with pressure (0 approx 9 Kbar) at constant temperature for the title alums and with temperature $(-60^o to +40^o)$ at constant 4.65 Kbar and ambient pressure for $NH_9$-alum only. The results are plotted and values of the slope, correlation factor, and g-value are tabulated. The predominating contribution to the thermal variation of D is that of explicit thermal excitations.
