Abstract

Chevrel phases $M_xMo_6S_8$ (M = Cu, Pb, La or Gd) were prepd. by a 1-step redn. of precursor sulfides $Mp(NH_4)_qMo_3S_9$. The Chevrel phases so prepd. were characterized by various phys. measurements. The present method has no adverse effect on the superconducting transition temperatures.
