Abstract
Simulations were performed using an upwind method (Roe scheme) fully coupled with k-\omega equations of a set of transverse injection experiments which have often been used for validation. As had been found before, generally, the simulations agreed with measurements at low injection pressure ratios but became increasingly poor at high pressures. However, through a sequence of steps which increased resolution and added low Reynolds number corrections to the turbulence model, it was found that improved solutions could be found which are in very close agreement with experiment even at the highest injection pressure. Mean flow computations with current turbulence models are thus shown to be adequate for the entire range of pressure ratios.
