Abstract
The development of two-dimensional proton-proton nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy was a seminal development in the algorithm of protein structure determination by liquid-state NMR. This article provides a historical and personal view of the various facilities, challenges and solutions in the successful development of this experiment for biomolecules in Professor Wuthrich's laboratory during the academic year 1979-80.
