Abstract

This study explores innovative interior design concepts for cars in 2045, aligning with industry trends and Autonomous, Connected, Electric, and Shared (ACES) principles. Objectives include identifying user preferences and challenges, future-proofing features, addressing design limitations, exploring diverse design directions, and seating models, studying Colour, Material and Finish (CMF) trends, and integrating Virtual Reality (VR) techniques. Targeting middle-aged car buyers with families in urban/suburban areas, the focus is on enhancing daily user experiences with contemporary features and CMFs. The paper framework is based on 3 interconnected factors: Understanding User needs, Creating Unique User Interfaces, and adapting and applying Ergonomics. Despite limitations such as the absence of a specific brand design language and challenges in accessing professional designers, this paper culminates in 3D model renders, animations, and a digital visual model of the envisioned car interior. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
