Abstract
Membrane separation processes have gained considerable attention in the field of biochemical and pharmaceutical applications. These simple and efficient processes offer high selectivity and scalability for separating and purifying target molecules. Advancements in membrane technology have opened up new possibilities for membrane separation processes in various applications, particularly in the biochemical and pharmaceutical industries. The development of new membrane materials and fabrication techniques, along with the emergence of new membrane-based separation mechanisms, has enabled the production of high-quality products with reduced costs and improved yields. As the demand for high-purity products continues to increase, membrane separation processes are likely to play an increasingly important role in the production of biochemicals and pharmaceuticals. In this chapter, the authors discuss the development of novel polymeric membranes, composite membranes, and carbon-based membranes for bio-separation and pharmaceutical applications. © 2024 selection and editorial matter, Anil Kumar Pabby; S.
