Abstract

This work introduces a new guidance logic for circumnavigation around a target that employs an arcsine function for look angle shaping. The proposed shaping depends on the line-of-sight separation between the UAV and the target, standoff circle radius, and guidance gain. One of the highlights of this work is that an analytical solution for the settling time is deduced. The guidance gain is identified as the critical design parameter for achieving different settling times, and the proposed guidance method is evaluated through simulations. © 2024 by Dhiraj Kumar Jha, Ashwini Ratnoo.
