The use of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for automated inventory has gained a lot of attention in recent years. However, the use of UAVs poses challenges such as dynamic obstacle avoidance, precise identification, and flight automation. In this paper, we have proposed a low-cost, energy-efficient QR code based inventory management system using nano drones. We have implemented a hybrid path planner for nano drone navigation and dynamic obstacle avoidance. A lightweight QR code detection algorithm is incorporated for the inventory of products. Finally, a dead reckoning algorithm is implemented to estimate the 3D coordinates of the products. All designed algorithms are lightweight and suitable for nano drones with minimal payload capacity, addressing challenges in maneuverability, flight path control, and space constraints in small-scale warehouses. © 2024 IEEE.
