Abstract
The tast depleting forest cover is of great concern both to scientists and to planners. There is no proper record of the existing vegetation types and estimates of their production. An attempt to estimate the area occupied by the potential and actual vegetation types and also to assess their standing biomass/growing stock in Karnataka has been made. © 1988, Indian Academy of Sciences.
