Abstract

In this work, a robust control scheme has been developed for pulsatile left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) used for advanced heart failure patients, utilizing the sliding mode control philosophy. A widely accepted model for the cardiovascular system along with baroreflex feedback is used as the system. Simulations in MATLAB/Simulink show promising results for the proposed control scheme. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
