Metal oxide nanostructures have garnered significant attention in recent years due to their unique physical, chemical, and electrical properties. One of the inherent advantages of oxide nanostructures is their high surface area-to-volume ratios, which enable improved charge carrier transport and device performance. In this chapter, we provide an overview of metal oxide nanostructures and their potential applications in solar cells, displays, water splitting and cleaning, memory devices, bioelectronics, etc. We cover the synthesis and characterization of these materials, in addition to their advantages over traditional nanostructures. The chapter also discusses the challenges of metal oxide nanostructures in micro- and nano-electronics, along with future research goals. Overall, this chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the field and the potential of metal oxide nanostructures for advancing electronics technology. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
