Abstract
Ceramic lanthanum chromite has been emphasized by many workers as the most promising candidate material for high-temperature technology. Attempts have been made to prepare highly dense and electronically conducting material by the incorporation of certain dopants such as $SrCO_3$, $TiO_2$ [1,2] and substituents like Sr, Ca, Cu, etc. [3-6]. Although a few reports are available on titania-doped ceramic lanthanum chromite [2, 4, 7], a detailed and systematic investigation to delineate the stability region of the homogeneous perovskite phase in the system $LaCr_{1-x}Ti_xO_3$ is still lacking. The present work was undertaken to exploit the citrate method for the preparation of titanium-substituted lanthanum chromite with a view to determining the stability range of the perovskite phase upon Ti substitution and also the physicochemical characterization of the system $LaCr_{1-x}Ti_x0_3$.
