Abstract

Just a few of the ways that climate change has influenced human lives and health over the past several decades include changes in extreme weather and climatic events, changes in the labor force, changes in food security, and changes in the prevalence and geographic distribution of infectious diseases. Indicators for climate change and health were developed as useful tools to track the complex network of interdependent relationships that connect climate change and human health. While the weather has an impact on the timing and severity of outbreaks, climate primarily influences the range of infectious diseases. This chapter aims to offer an outline of the impacts of climate change on human health in analysis, research potential, and applications in the healthcare sector. © 2023 by IGI Global.
