Abstract

Superconducting cuprates of $Nd_{1-x}Ca_xBa_2Cu_3O_{70-\delta}$ (up to x=0.3) have been prepared using $Ba(NO_3)_2$ as the source of Ba. Optimal annealing conditions to obtain high $T_c$’s involve cooling the as-prepared cuprate from 940º C to 600º C at 70ºC/h in oxygen (fast cooling), followed by slow cooling (12ºC/h) to room temperature. The $T_c$ decreases gradually from 84 K to 75 K for x=0.0 to x=0.3, while the oxygen content remains close to 7.
