Abstract

With the quick advancement of digital imaging technologies at multiple scales, their implementation is rapidly growing in all engineering fields. The “data assimilation technology”, which can effectively integrate the digitally measured physical, mechanical, and hydraulic properties with the numerical techniques for improving the accuracy of simulations, is in great demand. The use of digital imaging techniques helps in the development of innovative construction methods because of improved simulation accuracy and reduced experimental costs. This special issue dedicated to the digital imaging techniques applied to the field of geosynthetics is aimed at bringing together the latest advancements focused on this topic and help in increasing awareness of these new techniques among the researchers and practitioners.
