Abstract

This paper presents the development and testing of a soil pH sensor that would facilitate in-situ soil pH sensing. The sensor does not have fragile components, making it robust and reliable for soil pH measurements. An Antimony rod is used as the sensing electrode, whereas a novel metal-polymer reference electrode is developed to reduce the requirement for frequent maintenance. The sensor is tested in soil solutions of different pH, yielding a slope of -56.2mV/pH, which is in agreement with the Nernst model.
