Combustion synthesis and properties of fine particle $La_2CuO_4$ and $La_{l.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_4$

Fine Particle $La_2CuO_4$ and $La_{1.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_4$ have been prepared by a novel combustion method. The method employs an aqueous solution containing the corresponding metal nitrates and tetraformal trisazine mixtures which yields a voluminous oxide when rapidly heated to $350^oC$. The product on calcination at 550°C for 30 min gives the crystalline phase. Strontium doped lanthanum cuprate, $La_{1.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_4$ showed zero resistance at 33 K. At finite magnetic fields of 2 and 5 T. $T_C$ shifts to 16 K and 13 K, respectively.
