Abstract
Three isostructural MLi2Ti6O14 (M = Sr, Ba and Pb) titanates with an orthorhombic structure have been considered as anodes for lithium-ion batteries. Phase pure white titanate powders were prepared using a rapid two-step solution combustion method. Morphology and electrochemical activity of the titanate powders have been comparatively studied. 3 Li+ could be reversibly intercalated in SrLi2Ti6O14 and BaLi2Ti6O14, while more than 4 lithium per formula unit (160 mAh/g) could be (de)inserted with distinct three-step profile in PbLi2Ti6O14. Combustion made MLi2Ti6O14 form a robust family of anode materials for Li-ion batteries.
