Abstract

Friction stir welding is a solid-state welding process used to join similar or dissimilar materials. It was used in applications where excellent mechanical properties are needed with less distortion and improved safety. Its main applications are shipbuilding, offshore, rolling stock for railways, automotive, aerospace, general fabrication robotics, etc. Friction stir welding studies of aluminium with copper are reviewed here. Friction stir welding of different heat-treated aluminium alloys with commercially pure copper had been carried out and studied by researchers. © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
