Abstract

It is a pernicious problem in computing education to grapple with teaching complex concepts, or even simple concepts if only because often enough the mental leap of abstraction required to imagine and visualize the ideas when they are not so tangible acts as a barrier or deterrent. Often this results in either misconceived notions of the concepts involved, or worse, a total lack of understanding altogether. In this paper, we propose the novel methodoloy of using comics to aid the teaching process. This provides not only the advantage of lucid explanability, but also helps foster an interest in the subject. We present some examples to illustrate the efficacy of such a process. © 2022 ACM.
