Abstract
This paper presents a dual-slope K-band voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for automotive radar applications. The frequency range of the VCO is from 19.3 GHz to 24.8 GHz. The dual-slope operation is implemented using a negative inductor. The K-band VCO generates a signal with a phase noise less than -90.4 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency at 24.1 GHz. The VCO achieves a figure-of-merit (FOMT) of -175.71 dBc/Hz. The design is implemented in a 65-nm CMOS process. It consumes 10.62 mW of power from a 1.2 V supply, and occupies an area of 0.23 × 0.11mm2.
