Abstract

Co4Sb12 based skutterudite is one of the efficient thermoelectric materials in the mid temperature range (500-800K). The pristine Co4Sb12 and 0.1 at of InSb added Co4Sb12 were synthesized by conventional solid state reaction method followed by hot press sintering technique. The formation of skutterudite single phase was observed by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. Rietveld refinement of XRD pattern confirmed the position of In in the void site and extra Sb in InSb compensated the deficiency of Sb in Co4Sb12. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) analysis were carried out to observe the surface morphology and to determine the composition respectively. Both the samples exhibited single phase with similar morphology. An increase in carrier concentration was observed for InSb added Co4Sb12 sample from Hall measurement. © 2019 Author(s).
