The purpose of this work is to evaluate the performance of filters connected to the ac bus of a four terminal dc system under normal and disturbed operating conditions. A simple method of selectively estimating the harmonic components is presented, which uses Hopfield optimization energy principles. Using this, the filter efficiency, real and reactive power flow under various system contingencies are evaluated. A digital computer program developed is used to illustrate some interesting results.
