Abstract

Incorboratlon of $BO\frac{3-}{3}$ 1on stabilizes $YSr_2Cu_30_7,$ but the borate derivative Is non superconducting. Superconductivity ls not obtained by the partial substitution of Y by Ca In $YSr_2Cu_{3-x}(BO_3)_xO_z.$ Superconductivity has however been found In $YSr_{2-y}Ba_yCU_{3-x}(BO_3)_xO_z$ as well as $Y_{O.5}Ca_{0.5} Sr_{2-y}Ba_yCu_{3-x}(BO_3)_xO_Z$ (y=1, x=0.25). The borate 1on Is coordinated to copperreducing its point group symmetry. Observation of superconductivity tn borate derivatives prepared under mblent conditions Is noteworthy.
