Abstract
Expressions for the two thermodynamic parameters deciding the glass forming ability,namely, TK and T, have been derived for pure metals based on the models available for the free energy of the undercooled metals. The criteria for the existence of the above two parameters have been worked out and have been checked in the case of transition and noble metals.
